Quote of the Week

The quote of the week has to go to one of New York's three stooges. According to the NY Times, New York senate majority leader Joe Bruno was quoted saying:

"Now I don’t know about you, in your lives, when you get up in the morning — do your children, your significant others ask you what’s the status of campaign finance reform?”

Is it me or does this guy think we are complete morons? Campaign Finance Refore is the # 1 issue at both the state and federal level. I'm talking more important then the war, more important then late budgets, more important then some snooty hospital closing, more important then stem cell research, more important then the right to choose.

Why??? Because without it, special interest will continue to run this country and state. Industries like Big Oil, and Pharmaceutical will continue to control policy to increase profits. Is Big Oil behind the Iraq War...Yes. Are pharmaceutical companies pushing hard so that federal funded stem cell research is never allowed...Yes. Pharmaceutical companies don't want to cure diseases, that would eat into their profit margins. They need people on drugs to make money. Cured people don't need drugs. It use to be that a cholesterol level of 220 was good. Now it is below 200. So that means more people need Lipitor...More people taking drugs means bigger profits.

I truly believe that people are starting to understand how politics works and are talking about campaign finance reform. But people need to do more then just talk...they need to vote. They need to vote crooks like Bruno out of office and demand that the common person interest are truly being representative. If you think that Bruno and other politicians are doing a good job by bringing in stadiums and high tech jobs, please keep in mind that this is just window dressing. Their ultimate goal is personal welth at your expense...they are greedy and they don't care about you.

Every politician out there (both democrat and republican) is deeply influenced by special interest and the only way to stop this chaos is Campaign Finance Reform.

80's Flashback

Tonight Chris, Charlotte and I went down to Albany's "Alive at Five" concert series at Albany's river front park. Tonight's was a flashback to the 80's with Asia being the headliner.

I will admit, they had a handful of hits and released only 4 albums/CDs (of original material) since their self-title debut back in 1982...I have all of them in some form (album, tape, CD).

Although It's been awhile since I listened to their music, I must say the band sounded good. Lead Singer's, John Wetton voice was strong and the rest of the band played very well together considering this was their first tour together in a very long while. They even went back to the roots of Howe and Downes by playing some "Yes" and "Video Killed The Radio Star".

So all in all it was a good concert for the price (free) and it was brought back some great childhood memories. Even Charlotte was rocking...I just never though her first concert would be ASIA!!!

Next up...Hair of The Dog and Cherish The Ladies on July 12th. See you there!!!

Happy Fathers Day!!

I can't believe this past weekend was the 2nd Father's Day since Charlotte was born. And the weather gods were just as good to the Dads as they were to the Moms back in May. This year after my lovely wife made Charlotte and I Pancakes, the three of us (well, really 4) went up to my sisters house for a barbecue, where we enjoyed great food and drink.

After dinner Charlotte and I bounced around on the trampoline and ran around the yard. After that it was time for a killer game of wiffle ball, where young beat up old. To make a long story short, lets just say a 9 year old and 5 year old beat up on the 59 year old and 36 year old pretty good (man I'm old).

After the game, Farmer Dad put on his overalls and planted some tomato plants with the kids, and then it was off to family room to watch the last hour of the US Open while Kate and Charlotte played with their dolls.

Happy Father's Day!!

Check out more pictures from our day in our family album.

Oh, To be Young Again!!

I can safely say I never thought of doing something like this in my drinking days. But I will be honest, If I had thought of it, I would have probably been stupid enough to take part in it. I would have been the guy swinging the club!!!

Tis The Season To Be Jolly

You might be thinking by now why I keep referencing the Christmas Song "Deck The Halls". I guess that's because Chris and I have Christmas on our minds more and more these days. Yes, Chris is pregnant with Baby Hull # 2. She is in her 11th week, so that puts her due date right around Christmas. The doctor told us it is December 30th, but we think it is going to somewhere between 15th and the 20th. We are just hoping we don't have to spend Christmas in the hospital.

Chris is feeling better now. Anybody who has gone through this knows that the 1st trimester is the worse (at least that's what Chris tells me). As for finding out if it is boy or girl, you will have to wait like Chris and I are...We aren't finding out.

So we are all very happy and Charlotte did a good job keeping it secret...although she has been saying "baby" a lot the past 2 months. Charlotte obviously doesn't have a clue what is going on, but we are very happy that she is going to be a big sister. People tell us the fun of parenthood really begins with baby #2.

Tis The Season To Be Busy

We finally hit the unofficial start of summer and the last two weekends have been a little hectic. On May 26th, the three of us went down to New York City for the day to visit my brother and to visit the Central Park Zoo. Although we were only in the city for the day, it was nice to get down there again. This was our first trip to NY since Charlotte was born, and it seamed like Charlotte enjoyed the city as much as we do.

As usually, we drove to Poughkeepsie, NY to catch the Metro North Train into Grand Central. Charlotte spent her time on the train looking out the window, talking to all the passengers and napping. Once in NY, we got a quick bite to eat, passed by Chris's old neighborhood and then it was off to meet my brother Sean at the Central Park Zoo. The Zoo is nice...It's not real big, but it's big enough to fill a good part of your afternoon. There was a lot more animals then I expected included Polar Bears, Penguins, Snow Monkeys, Turtles and of course the seals. After the Zoo, we took a stroll in the park and then it was down to SoHo for dinner. After dinner it was getting late, so we took the subway back to Grand Central and on back home to Albany. It was a busy day, but it was fun and Charlotte was great.

This past weekend was another busy one. On Saturday, I was busy doing stuff around the house and then Saturday Night, the three of us went to Jerico Drive-In to see Pirates Of the Caribbean - At Worlds End. The movie was good but it wasn't as good as the first two and they leave the ending open for a forth installment. This was our second Drive-Inn movie of the summer and Charlotte is doing much, much better then the fiasco last summer.

On Sunday it was off to my parents house to celebrate my brothers, Sean (38) and I (36) birthday. Though the birthday fun didn't end Sunday...On Monday Chris and Charlotte baked my favorite cake for some birthday fun with just the three of us.
