A Deer in the Headlights

It looks like CNN hit the "on" switch a little early the other day by showing Dubya practicing his speech 45 seconds before he was to give his nationaly televised speech from the oval office. The network says it was a mistake, but conservatives are saying it was another way the liberal media is trying to make Dubya look bad. I wonder what they would say if Fox News made the same mistake?

Personally, I think Dubya does a fine job looking stupid without any help from the media. I mean check out this video...Talk about a deer in headlights. He makes us so proud...Yeah right!!!

Chokeback Yankees

First there was Brokeback Mountain. You know, the movie about two cowboys who fall in love. Then my buddy Chris told us about the "Brokeback to the future" parody. Well now comes another parody...Chokeback Yankees. The account of a love triangle between A-Rod, Jeter and Damon. Could it be true? I always assumed it was...Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Warning: Contains material that may be unsuitable for sensitive viewers. There is no nudity, but it is suggestive and you could find it offensive.

York Beach Maine Is Under Water

Our good friend Kathy sent me some bad news about York Beach, Maine. Most of you know I have been going to York Beach my entire life. I love it up there...The smell of the ocean, Nubble Light, hanging out on the beach, etc, etc. Well according to WLBZ in Bangor, Maine, York County received over 10 inches of rain in the last 24 hours and up to 5 more inches is on its way. I guess officials are also worried about dams failing

WLBZ has some video from York Beach...wow, the pictures are unbelievable. Looks like there is a lot of damage, but right now, no deaths have been reported.

Thanks for the tip Kathy!!!

The Simpsons Chime In On Intelligent Design

This weeks quote of the week goes to Lisa Simpson. This weeks episode of The Simpsons was about the controversy over public school districts teaching intelligent design. Lisa ended the show by saying to her neighbor, Mr. Flanders (I'm paraphrasing) "Mr. Flanders, I respect your religion, but we should not be forced to learn religion in public schools and in the same manner you should not have to be forced to teach science in your church".

This is been my opinion on this issue. Our country's founding fathers specifically called for separation of church and state when they formed America. I believe everyone should have the right to practice their religion, but not in public schools.

Palm Trees, Jet Parts and the Emerald Island

According to the Virginia Pilot, "a tail section from an F-14 Tomcat discovered on a beach in Ireland came from an ocean-based plane that crashed 3½ years ago off Key West, Fla.". This article reminded me of one of my favorite vacations (My favorite was my honeymoon) back in 1999 when I traveled to Ireland with my buddy Scott, his wife Laurie and Laurie's entire family. One of the things that I learned while I was there was that on western coast of Ireland there are palm trees. Some of the palms were planted by man, but most of them grew naturally. When you first here about this, you start saying to yourself, how can palm trees grow on a island that is further north then NY state and how did the palm trees get there naturally?

Although Ireland is further north then NY, it actually is warmer because it has a marine climate...Much like Seattle, WA. The coldest average temperature in the winter is 38 degrees. So most of the year it doesn't get below freezing...Thus the palm trees survive. As far as how the palm trees got to Ireland naturally..Welll, all the coconuts do is hop onto the Gulf Stream "express" in Florida and the current takes them north, north east to Ireland...And thus Palm Trees in Ireland.

So when I read about part of a plane winding up in Ireland after it crashed off the coast of Florida, I really wasn't surprised...I just wished I was back in Ireland again. Some day I knowI'lll go back and I'm sure Charlotte and Chris will love it as much as I did.

OH BROTHER!!!

It appears Dubya and Daddy Bush are putting the feelers out on the possibility of Jeb Bush running in 2008. According to MSNBC, Jebby has repeatedly said he is not going to run in 2008. Now if you follow politics, you know that when someone says they aren't going run, that means they are thinking about running. That also hasn't stopped his brother and Daddy from piping in. Dubya is quoted as saying he would make“a great president.” Daddy has said he would be“awfully good” as president.

Wow...Can you imagine if another Bush ran? Oh my...That would be awful. Not only will all of Dubya's stupid policies continue, but also if you don't write down your wishes when it comes to life and death, he will get personally involved and make them for you.

A Beautiful Day for a Christening

Since I last posted pictures of Charlotte, she has hit a few milestones. Not only is Charlotte getting very good at holding her head up, but last Tuesday she turned 3 months and yesterday (May 7, 2006) both Charlotte and Chris were Baptized. Chris had been thinking about getting baptized for awhile and she thought it would be very special if they got Baptized together. The actual ceremony was at Newtonville United Methodist Church in Newtonville, NY (The same Church Chris and I got married) and was conducted by Rev. Michelle Bogue-Trost. ...Afterwards we headed to G-Mom's and Papa's house for brunch and fun. A big thanks to everyone for helping us out with the party. Especially G-Mom and Dad for letting us have brunch at their house and a BIG thanks to Laura for being Charlotte's God Mother.

Here are some pictures from the big day. I will post some more later on in the week.

Round 1 Goes to Grampa!!!

According to The Smoking Gun, 90 year old Dale Stevens of Oklahoma was arrested for assulting a 40-year-old Liberal (Kansas) Police Officer. The 5' 11" Stevens weighed in at 150 pounds, while the 40 year old 5' 10"police officer weighed in at 270 pounds.

I wish I was there to watch this incident and arrest...It had to be hysterical!!! Can you imagine the ribbing the officer took by his co-workers when he returned to the station?

Clueless Joe Strikes Again

According to the Journal News, here is the latest clueless quote from Joe Torre about Johnny's return to Fenway:

"I'm a little disappointed in the reaction of the fans...I guess we should feel proud. Evidently, wearing a Yankee uniform overrides winning a World Series and busting your tail for four years...Without Johnny here, they may be working on 89 or 90 years (without a World Series). It's too bad they don't appreciate that more."

Does Joe understand the whole idea of a rivalry and that Red Sox Fans hate the Yankees and Yankee Fans hate the Red Sox? Yes...Johnny was a great player when he was with the Sauxs and he helped us beat the evil empire and win a World Series. But that doesn't matter now because he decided to take the big bucks and go to the Yankees...That to me is like kissing your sister...It's just wrong. He could have gone to any other team...The Mets, The Braves, The Cubs. But when you go from the Sox to the Yankees, we don't care what you did for us...The bottom line is you joined the enemy. That means you are now the enemy.

Yes, this may sound very foolish and illogical, but that is the way it is when you are a Sawx or Yankee fan. The same thing would happen in Yankee Stadium if someone left the Yankees to go to the Sox...Wait...Yankee fans wouldn't boo, they would throw batteries instead.

GET A CLUE JOE!!!
