Lyrics Stir Thoughts Of A Gentle Giant

Chris gave me Bruce Springsteen & The E. Street Band newest CD, "Magic", for Christmas. I finally got around to listen to all the songs on the CD and as usual, they are all good. Since I considered Bruce Springsteen to be one of the better songwriters out there I like to really listen to his words and try to figure out what he is writing about. The last song on the CD, titled "Terry's Song", is obviously very personal in nature to Bruce as he sings about the recent death of a long time friend. While listening to this song, I couldn't help but think about my good friend, Mike Ford, who passed away back in 2002 after a long battle against leukemia. For those of you who knew Mike, I'm sure you will agree.

Time Goes Way To Fast

It's been a long time since I have actually written about what the three of us have been up to. All I can say is we have been busy and some good things have happened and some bad things have happened. As for now, I'll just tell you about some of the the good things.

In early July, we went to my cousin's High school Graduation Party, where we were able to catch up with family that we hadn't seen in awhile. At times we thought they had caught the wrong guy when my Uncle John put on a sweatshirt because it was so damn cold.

On July 4th the three of us went to Lake George, NY to visit my parents at the Ledgeview RV park. Unfortunately it rained most of the day, but it was good to see the family.

On July 12th, Charlotte, G-Mom, Papa and I went to Albany's Alive At Five Irish Night concert at Riverfront Park to see Hair of The Dog and Cherish The Ladies. Both bands were great and the weather was perfect.

On July 14th, the three of us went to the "The Crossings" in Colonie to check out the "Duckies". after that it was off to Hollywood Drive-In to see Live Free or Die Hard. A good movie, entertaining...Not as good as the first, but much better then the 2nd & 3rd. If you see it, make sure you realize this is a movie and not reality.

On July 20th it was off to Sue & Larry's house in Clifton Park for the monthly family dinner and Larry's birthday. Another great day, and Charlotte even got her first pedicure, by my cousin Amy.

On the 21st we met the Brownsey's at the Saratoga County Fair where we saw lots and lots of Animals. Charlotte, as usual went nuts over the duckies.

In early August we went on our much needed family vacation. This year it was Maine where it seam to rain half the time, but we still had a lot of fun. When we got home we were actually nutty enough to go to Saratoga to get our free chairs.

And finally, last night, the three of us went to Jerico Drive-In to see Ratatouille and The Simpsons Movie. Both movies were great although and will be on our DVDs "To Buy" lists.

Well that's all for now, I will try to post more family stuff now that we are less busy and getting more and more excite about baby # 2. Also, make sure you check out the photos in our album.

Back When Videos Were a Form of Art

Here's a another great one from the 80's. How dare they make fun of "St. Reagan".

80's Flashback

Tonight Chris, Charlotte and I went down to Albany's "Alive at Five" concert series at Albany's river front park. Tonight's was a flashback to the 80's with Asia being the headliner.


I will admit, they had a handful of hits and released only 4 albums/CDs (of original material) since their self-title debut back in 1982...I have all of them in some form (album, tape, CD).


Although It's been awhile since I listened to their music, I must say the band sounded good. Lead Singer's, John Wetton voice was strong and the rest of the band played very well together considering this was their first tour together in a very long while. They even went back to the roots of Howe and Downes by playing some "Yes" and "Video Killed The Radio Star".


So all in all it was a good concert for the price (free) and it was brought back some great childhood memories. Even Charlotte was rocking...I just never though her first concert would be ASIA!!!

The Police are Coming?

Rumors are flying that The Police may reunite and tour this summer. According Billboard.com rumor reports are legitimate but wouldn't be released until they are final.

The police is one of those bands that I wasn't really into until after they broke up when I became a big Sting fan. Chris and I saw Sting a few years ago with Annie Lennox up at SPAC. That was some concert. We can only hope that the Police rumors are true and the tour stops some place nearby.

In The Air Tonight

Last week, as I always do before any road trip to Ohio, I throw about 25 CDs into the van for the 8+ hour trip (one way). As I was going through my ever expanding CD collection, I pulled out an old favorite that I haven't listened to in at least 5 or six years....Phil Collins, Serious Hits Live.

Back in High school, I actually saw the tour that this CD was recorded from up at SPAC. Yes, a lot of the songs were just 80's cheese...but it was good cheese and it brought back some great memories. In the Air Tonight, particularly, still gets me. Yes it is a somber song, but it also gives you the idea of taking drum lessons....Kick Butt Song...One of Phil's best.
