The List

According to the ESPN, Manny and Ortiz are on the list for testing positive in 2003. I'm not surprised. They need to release this list and move on. If it also means taking away records, WS rings (I'm a saux Fan) and banning players, then lets do it and move on. Releasing the list in drips and drabs prevents this.

Oh, one other thing...Why aren't people, especially the media, going after Bud Selig. This guy was in charge throughout the whole Steroid Era and allowed it to happen by looking the other way. Fans and the media must demand for Bud's resignation.

So Long Manny...Thanks For the Memories!!

People have asked how I feel about the Manny trade. For me, it comes down to what is best for the team and at this point, it seams that now was a good time to part ways. Manny didn't want to be there and the organization had run out of patience, so why keep him. Although I like certain players, I try not get hung up and glamorize individuals essentially because this is a team sport and it takes a team to win. I want the Boston Red Sox to win the World Series. I could care less about individual stats.

Yes, I said back in May the "Manny being Manny" antics, although self centered, they never really bothered me because I do believe he was trying. The stuff he does can’t all come naturally. But they also didn't bother me because I truly believe that most athletes in sports have this same "it's all about me attitude", Manny just made it obvious.
So, is Manny a great player...yes. Will I miss his bat...yes. Will I miss his goofiness...yes. Are there other fish in the sea that can fill his shoes...yes. Will the Red Sox be better off without him...well, the jury is still out on that one. Morale will be better in the Clubhouse and I still think we can make it back to the WS this year. I seam to recall something similar happening in 2004 with some guy by the name of Nomar...I can't remember his last name.

But 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 years down the road...The Red Sox will be fine!!!

Manny Being Manny and The Yankee Freak House

Many people I know that are Yankee fans don’t particularly care about Manny Ramirez and some have used some words to describe him that I won’t repeat on this blog. I guess when I see video, like the two below, of Manny being Manny, I usually laugh…probably because he is one of the best hitters in the league so why mess with something that works. Although it may seam like he is not trying hard, I think he is. The stuff he does can’t all come naturally. Can you imagine what the guy who got tagged out must be feeling?

After the videos of Manny being Manny check out the story about Jason “Roid Man” Giambi. The guy wears a gold thong to try breaking out of hitting slumps. And it gets worse…”Several teammates acknowledged they've tried wearing it (Giambi’s Thong), too, including Yankees captain Derek Jeter and outfielder Johnny Damon”.

I don’t care what Manny has done, nothing can compare to this. One pair of underwear strung between 3 different pair of butt cheeks is just unbelievably freaky.

Now grab a bucket and lets all hurl together!!

Not Just Saux Fans Believe in Curses

The Post is reporting it, Fox Sports reported it on Friday and even my buddy Chris reported it on his blog. I'm talking about the now famous Ortiz Jersey that was buried at the new Yankee Stadium by an obvious construction worker who was also an avid Red Sox Fan.

Anybody who knows me know that I am not a believer of superstitions. In fact, I've been known to make fun of all the Red Sox fans out there who believed in what they call "the curse".

Now it's obvious even high level management in the Yankee organization believe in curses and lost some sleep over the possibility of a Saux jersey was buried in their house. So what do they do?? TheyRip up their new stadium, find the jersey and donated it to charity.

Wow, I guess not wining a World Series in awhile, really makes a Yankee mind go loopy.

My Dog Ate It

According to Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon, his dog Boss, ate the ball thrown for the final out of Game 4 of the 2007 World Series. I wonder if after the dog took a dump he saved it and donated to the Hall of Fame. I'm sure you would be able to see some raw hide and string mixed in with the poo. The hall could then use a Yankee Hat to hold the mound in the display case...Perfect!!

FOX SPORTS, A-ROD, SCOTT BORRIS and the 2007 world series

What a Series…The Red Sox won again for the 2nd time in 4 years and like 2004 it was a come from behind win in the ALCS followed by a sweep in the World Series. Last night would have been perfect except for the fact that A-Rod, Scot Borris and Fox Sports thought there were issues more important then the World Series. Yep, 6 innings into Game 4 of a potential sweep, Fox Sport’s Ken Rosenthal broke in with late braking news that was much more important (yeah right) then the Series: A-Rod decided to Opt out of his contract with the NY Yankees. But this is Game 4 of a potential World Series sweep so who cares about A-Rod?

I understand that Fox Sports has an obligation to report sports news, but do you really think producers didn’t know this news before the game started? My cynical mind tells me they did, but chose to wait until a more appropriate time in Fox’s broadcast to announce it. In this case, the more appropriate time was the 6th inning when they knew that with the exception of New Englanders, everybody on this half of the country was going to bed and a boost in ratings was needed. Mike Golic of ESPN said this morning that Fox had an obligation to report this, that A-Rod and Scot Borris were at fault for taking the lime light away from the Series. True, but Fox wasn’t reporting the news because of journalistic integrity, if they had, they would have reported it when they really learned the news. Fox Sports reported the news at a certain time to try to draw higher ratings.

So my Point is, if Fox waited on this story till the 6th inning, then they could have waited until after the Series to announce it or put it on the crawler. Give the World Series its due. But no, A-Rod is more important and the 10 minutes spent on this “news” turned into a huge distraction and blew out any dim spark the Series had. But I guess in world where A-Rod and Scott Borris need to be bigger then the World Series and make more money then Bill Gates; A world where journalistic integrity is out the window in favor of higher profits for shareholders, then this really shouldn’t surprise us.

Red Sox Win 2007 World Series

For the 2nd time in 4 years, the Boston Red Sox won the World Series. And like 2004, they were down in the ALCS, came back and sweep the Series...This time, The Rockies.

Bulletin Boards & Sleeping Giants

If anyone needs an example of Bulletin Board Material, check out what Ryan Garko of the Cleveland Indians said after Game 5 of the ALCS.

"This Indians team is better than the Red Sox and will prove it once and for all in cramped Fenway Park. Sure, a home-field celebration would’ve been nice, but silencing Red Sox Nation in its house will be just as sweet. The champagne tastes just as good on the road as it does at home,” first baseman Ryan Garko said."

Needless to say, it was plastered all over the Red Sox locker room before game 6. Obviously the quote worked and the Sox went on to crush the Indians 12-2 and force Game 7, Sunday Night at Fenway Park.

I guess Papelbon was right: He woke a sleeping Giant!!!

Broom Anyone!!!

I know it's early to start the trash talk, but I can only imagine what the Yankee Fans would say if the Yanks swept the Soxs. Jon Miller of ESPN Sunday Night Baseball said it best when referring to Mike Lowell's home run (the 3rd of 4 consecutive home runs):

"And that one is headed to New Hampshire"

Look at the bright side...A-Rod set a record this month. Maybe he will get back into the swing of things like his days in Texas & Seattle. Those teams did so well when he played for them....Yeah right!!

The Pizza Massacre!

Fenway Park and beer...What a beautiful thing!!! The guy ruined a perfectly good piece of pizza, but it provided some great enertainment. And nobody can beat the NESN announcers.
