The Clueless Foursome

Now that An Inconvenient Truth, rightfully won the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature, let the Al Gore bashing begin...at least from the clueless right wingers who don't believe in global warming. No, I haven't seen the movie (although it is on my Netflix list) yet, but people I know that have seen it all say it is eye opening and a must see. The only people that don't like the movie are the nuts who have turned Global Warming into a political issue and think that warming is a farce.

Can anybody guess what the clueless foursome (Limbaugh, Hannity, Savage and O'Reilly) are going to say tomorrow? I'm guessing they will spend 75 % of the week bashing Gore. The other 25% will be spent bashing gay marriage and how morally wrong it is...all because Melissa Etheridge also won the oscar for Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures for her song in the movie An Inconvenient Truth.

I don't think many people doubt that global warming exists. Climate change has been around since the dawn of time...long before man walked the Earth.

The real debate is over the level of human responsibility and where global warming ranks among the world's problems.

I'm somewhat interested in seeing Gore's movie. But to get a well-informed view from the opposite perspective, you should read "State of Fear" by Michael Crichton. That's an eye-opener too, but not in the way you'd suspect.

I just read a synopsis of the book and I see where Crichton is going with it...a argument I can sure see when it comes to "allegations that the political, legal, and media systems deliberately induce a state of unreasonable fear in the general population to keep themselves in power" (wikipedia.com).

He is right, people are using fear to say in power...this happens in more ways then just this issue...Look at Dubya and his crusade against terrorism. Is it really terrorism that he is trying to defeat???

But the fact remains that 1,200 scientist from across the globe have agreed that although global warming is a natural phenomenon, it is being accelerated by humans a rate never experienced before on this planet...a belief I truly agree with.

This issue should not be debated by politicians, the right wing, the left wing, religious leaders or money making corporations like big oil. The issue should be debated by a independent consortium of scientist (funded by nations across this world) who will decided if this is truly a problem and what immediate course (if any) of action should be taken.
