Not In My Back Yard

There is only one reason why a group home for the developmentally disabled supposedly drives down property values. The reason is all too simple. People are naive and use stereotypes and come up with what seams like logical reason to cover-up the real reason. According to the Times Union, this is what happening, again, in the Town of Niskayuna.

I guess my only question to Mr. Landry is why do people with developmental disabilities deserve the treatment you are giving them? What would be your view if a close family member had a developmental disability? There is nothing wrong with group homes. If anybody who lived there were a danger to neighbors, the state wouldn't allow them to live in the home.

To me, Mr. Landry is at the same level as the people who fought for segregation. Until people like Mr. Landry get a grip and treat everybody equal, the problem of bigotry and stereotyping will continue forever.

Caught On Tape

According to the Times Union, A couple of juveniles were caught on tape steeling a 150 pound wine barrel from the front of Empire Wine in the Target Plaza in Colonie. The owner of the store saw that they were caught on his surveillance tape and called police. Police are now investigating. The owner then put the video on You Tube hoping someone would recognize them.

Wow, these kids look younger then 16 and they are out at 11:30 at night. Where are their parents?

Caught Off Guard

Wow..."Fox News Sunday" Host, Chris Wallace, took on "Fair and Balanced" Fox and Friends. Maybe Chris forgot to read the memo that Fox News is really a conservative propaganda machine that shouldn't be questioned...Uh-oh!! What's next?? My guess is that Fox News will disown the "problem child". Or maybe this was calculated by Chris so he would get fired and get hired by CBS to take over Face the Nation once host Bob Schieffer retirers. Check out the hosts of Fox and Friends...Talk about dear in a headlight.

The Madness Is Here

I know I've said this before and I know some people don't agree with me when I say: The best sports weekend of the year is here...The first two rounds of the NCAA Mens Basketball Tournament. The tournament is no doubt the best in sports, but the first weekend is what I enjoy the most. Four days of non-stop action. It doesn't get any better.

Here is my sheet...Who did you pick?

Run For Your Lives

Imagine this: sitting in the stands watching a Phoenix Suns game when all of a sudden, a 7'1", 325lbs. wall of muscle comes flying towards you from the court. That's what happen a few days ago when Shaquille O'Neal was trying to save a ball from going out of bounds. Wow...I think this would have made me poop my pants!! The second video are some teammates having a little fun with the big guy at last night's game.

Apologies, Crimes and Shock, but No Calls For Resignation

According to SurveyUSA.Com, yesterday 58% of New Yorkers think Elliot Spitzer should resign. Today, it was up to 67%. Yet many democrat leaders are avoiding the issue of resignation, including Hillary Clinton, Chuck Schumer, Ron Canestrari and Sheldon Silver. Why??? Well we know Hillary's reason...Spitzer is her superdelagate.

Let me get this straight, Spitzer apologized for hiring a prostitute and dealing with organized crime and 67% of New Yorkers want him to resign, yet these clowns won't encourage him to resign....Typical politics as usual. As I've said before, I'm not registered with a particular party, but my beliefs are more in line with the democratic party. However, can you imagine if the Spitzer was a Republican?? Hillary, Chuck, Ron and Sheldon would be on their soap box insisting a resignation.

Another reason not to vote for Hillary. I can only hope Spitzer's resignation will come within the next day or two, so we can get back to the business of our state.

Time For Change

If you live in NY, by now you have heard of the story that will rock NY politics for years. Gov. Elliot Spitzer has been linked to a high priced prostitution ring. Yes, that's right the man, known as the Wall Street Sheriff, who came into Albany as Governor 1.5 years ago and promised change, who gave so many New Yorkers (including myself) so much hope that NY politics will work once again has apologized for in his words: "...acts in a way that violates my obligations to my family and violates my, or any, sense of right and wrong". Spitzer went on by saying "I apologize first and most importantly to my family. I apologize to the public, whom I promised better".

As most of you know, I'm a political junky...I'm not registered with a particular party, but I do love talking politics and debating ideas. In general, my beliefs are more in line with the democratic party, but I have voted republican once or twice and I have never contributed a dime to a political campaign, nor will I ever in the future.

I must say, I have never seen anything like this before in state politics at this level. Here is guy who showed such promise, came into Albany and promised to clean things up and look what happened. He steamrolled everybody who didn't agree with him, he wanted to give driver licenses to illegal aliens, trooper gate and now this. I could have dealt with the others, but what he apologized today I can't let go. I'm not talking about him cheating on his wife or being a bad Dad (that's a private issue) , but the crime of hiring a prostitute and dealing with organized crime.

Elliot Spitzer is a disgrace and should resign immediately.

11 Years, Quadruple the Price

Back in the summer of 2000, a friend of mine told me that if Al Gore were to win the presidency, you would see gas prices over $2.00/gal. I laughed at him and told him that it was another republican scare tactic. I should have told him that he must be getting confused: electing Dubya "oil man" Bush will drive the prices up so far the oil companies will be dancing in the streets celebrating all the profits they are about to make.

Well, as history shows, when Dubya was appointed in 2000 gas was around $1.25/gal. Now it's $3.31 and Dubya's buddies at Exxon/Mobil are making trillions of dollars every year. Do you realize that the price of gas has quadrupled since 1997 when it was .90/gal? Yep, in 1997 it cost $11.73 to fill up my 13 gallon tank in my Dodge Colt. Now it costs me $43.25 to fill up my 13 gallon tank in my VW Jetta.

Nice energy policy Dubya....But I guess as a oil man, you don't care. I hope everybody is ready for the big storm...otherwise known as a recession.

Someone is a little sensitive

I haven't been overly impressed with John McCaine. I do think he would be better then Dubya as President simply by the fact that he is more inteligent. Right now, with 8 months till the general election, Obama is my choice (I can't stand Hillary).

With that said, I think the press got their shorts in a bunch yesterday when John McCaine stood up for himself. The headline on Yahoo News reads: McCain flashes temper at reporter . I saw the video, and to be honest, I didn't see a temper. But I guess in this world when you talk back to the media without the utmost respect...Your temper begins to flair.

Check out the video and you be the judge. It looks like someone from the press was a little sensitive!!! Go cry about it, you need a tissue??
