More Christmas, Birthday Fun

Last night the three of us went to Salty's Pub & Galley in Clifton Park for Susie's Birthday...I mean special day. This was the first time that the family went out to dinner so it was a nice change of pace. My brother, Sean, was up from New York City for the holidays...so that was a extra bonus.

Today, Charlotte and I paid a visit to G-mom, Papa and Sean while Chris stayed home and baked cookies and wrapped presents. Only 2 more days go until the big day!!

I love Santa

Fire House Christmas Party...First Visit With Santa

Ever since I can remember, the Grand Boulevard Fire Department Ladies Auxilary has had a Christmas Party for the kids and this year was no exception. I always figured some day I would be taking my own kids like my sister has with Erin, Michael & Kate. Well, the three of us joined the fun this past Sunday at the Balltown Road station. The kids had fun with Arts & Crafts, a crazy scientist, food, drink and of course a visit from Santa. This was Charlotte's first visit to see Santa and she did great.

Although Charlotte was little out of it when we placed her in his lap, she was completely awake when we paid Santa another visit last night at Colonie Center and she was all smiles (I will post the picture once I track down a scanner). We are still puzzled why Charlotte freaks whenever anybody (except Chris or I) hold her, but she was OK with a jolly old man in a big red suit.

Thanks again Mom for the invite. Next year Charlotte will be able to make her own craft.

Big D Goes Big Time

Check out the latest photos of the Dallas Cowboy's new 1 Billion Dollar Stadium. What's really crazy is they are keeping the hole in the roof...The hole, that legend says, is there so God can watch his favorite team play. Those crazy Texans strike again. The stadium will have a capacity of 100,000 and is set to open in the summer 2009.

Also check out the New Dallas Cowboy Stadium Gala hosted by Bob Costas. WOW!!!

It's A Wonderful Life

When it comes to Christmas movies, Frank Capra's 1946 classic "It's a Wonderful Life" is, by far, my favorite. The purity and simplicity of the story along with the late great Jimmy Stewart is something that could never be reproduced.

On Sunday, Chris and I saw the musical version of the movie at the New York State Theater Institute, located on the Russel Sage College Campus in Troy, NY. I must say...the show was excellent. No, you didn't have the sets that you have at Proctors Theater or on Broadway. But the acting was excellent. You felt like you were watching the actual movie at times and it even gave us the same feeling you get when you watch the movie.

If you are a fan of the movie and you have some time before the last showing on December 16th, I recommend you take a trip out to Troy to see the show. You will enjoy it.

One Smelly Fart Brings Down Flight

Here's one that will make you laugh. According to 24 Dash. Com, "A chartered flight had to make an emergency landing after a passenger lit a match to disguise the smell of her fart". Yep, it's true...some women with manners blew a big one. And the next thing you know she is being questioned by the FBI. That had to be one hell of a fart.

Scarry, Scarry, Scarry

According to the LA Times, "Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan announced Monday that he was taking the first step toward a 2008 White House run by setting up an exploratory committee".

If you don't know who Brownback is, you need to educate yourself about this fanatic. HE IS SCARY!!! The guy believes in taking away your rights and if it was up to him, this country would be a Christian religious state. The Guy is nuts!!! Back in June, I mentioned him briefly in my rant about the FCC and referred you to an article in Rolling Stone Magazine. This guy is scary, scary, scary.

The FCC

As most of you probably know, I'm not a fan of the FCC. I can go on for hours as to why I can't stand them, but I won't. I'll simply say this: They have basically told the American people, that they (the American people) can't make their own decision as to what is good or bad to watch or listen too, so the FCC will make it for you. And don't be fooled...Dubya, the religious right and parentsTV.org is controlling the pull strings of the FCC. You no longer have a right to choose what you can watch on TV.

Before you watch this video (Warning...The video contains language that could be considered offensive), I'll leave you with a quote from William O. Douglas, U.S. Supreme Court Justice 1939-1975:

“Restriction on free thought and free speech
is the most dangerous of all subversions. It is the
one un-American act that could most easily defeat us.”

With A Little Help From My Friends

I know I haven't posted since Turkey Day. We've been busy getting the house ready for the Christmas. With some help from the Roon Man, I was however, able to design a new blog header. I thought it came out pretty good. Let me know what you think.

Incedently, although the original Beatles version of the song "With A Little Help From My Friends" was great, I always thought Joe Cocker's version was much better.
