We Have Moved To The Dark Side

I have always been a critic with how much the Yankees spend every year. Well, I'll officially say it now...My beloved Sox have moved to the dark side. This past week Boston paid 51.1 million just to talk to Japanese pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka of the Seibu Lions. Now they have to sign him and agent Scott Borras has said that he wants at least $10 million for 3 to 5 years.

In other words, we are pulling a move that has traditionally been made by the Yankees and are paying big bucks for a pitcher that has not thrown a pitch in the US. I've heard that Theo Epstein has had scouts watch this guy for 3 years now and likes what he saw. So it looks like the deal will get done. Lets just hope that this doesn't turn out to be another Hideki Irabu.

Now that we are on the dark side...I just feel so dirty!!

The Battle of Epic Proportions

The Battle of Epic Proportions begins at 3:30PM Saturday afternoon on ABC when # 2 Michigan visits # 1 Ohio State in a Big 10 show down. I'll admit, I'm a rookie when it comes to college football. However, all the jocks on ESPN and ESPN Radio are saying this could be one of the best football games you will see in a long time.

Never before has so much been on the line. With both teams undefeated, this game will determine who will go to the National Championship....Although it is possible the loser could make it to Championship for a rematch...depending on the BCS standings. This game will also determine whether Troy Smith of Ohio State will get the Heisman Trophy. And then there is the rivalry (arguably the best in sports) between these two teams. Michigan fans hate Ohio State and Ohio State Fans hate Michigan. A ESPN pole yesterday said that more fans would rather their team win this game over the championship. I always thought the Sox-Yankee wars were bad...these fans are just insane.

It should be crazy...It should be great. Life will stop in Michigan and Ohio for three hours Saturday afternoon. And it will stop here too. It should be a great battle.

The Biggot Strikes Back

According to the NY Times, it looks like Trent Lott of Mississippi returned to the Senate’s top ranks today, winning election as minority whip in the next session by a single vote. Yep, the Republicans are pulling all the stops out to insure that this country becomes even more divided by electing a good ol' boy. In case you forgot, Trent's downfall was back in 2002 at Storm Thurmond's (once a longtime segregationist ) 100th birthday. According to the NY Times, Lott noted at the party “I want to say this about my state, When Strom Thurmond ran for president, we voted for him. We’re proud of it. And if the rest of the country had followed our lead, we wouldn’t have had all these problems over the years, either.” The senator later apologized for his “poor choice of words,” . But the damage was done, and Lott lost his post.
Can you imagine how much better off this country would if all these biggots would just go away?

It's been a while

It's been a over a month since I last posted about what we've been doing to keep busy. So I guess now is as good as ever to catch you up to date.

Charlotte's first Halloween was a lot of fun. On Saturday the 28th Charlotte got her picture taken with her cousins Erin, Michael and Kate. On Halloween, Charlotte and Chris went to a Halloween part at one of Chris's friends house and then paid me a visit at work. After work, it was off to the Sgambelluri's house for the traditional Mac & Cheese Dinner. Once Erin, Michael and Kate went trick-or-treating, the three of came home so we could give out candy to all of our neighborhood kids.

On November 1st and 2nd my father and I took a short trip to Ocean City, Maryland for a father-Son bonding trip. Ok, Ok...I won't lie...we went down to play golf, but it was still nice to get away with dad and to get a couple of rounds in. This year we played Bare Trap Dunes and Bayside. Both courses were beautiful. I think Bayside was one of the nicest courses I've ever played. It should be considering it was design and built by Jack Nicklaus and once it goes private the initiation fee will be $20,000 to join.

This past Friday was a holiday for me, so Chris, Charlotte and I took a day trip to Stockbridge, MA to have lunch at the Red Lion Inn. If you ever get to Stockbridge, make sure you go to the Red Lion Inn...The food was spectacular. Chris had the Eggplant & Goat Cheese Cannelloni with a ginger-ale and I had the Broccoli & Smoked Cheddar Quiche with a Guinness. Both were out of this world. After lunch, the three of us paid a visit to the Norman Rockwell Museum just up the road from the Inn. Norman Rockwell is one of my favorite artist...so I was in heaven in this place. They had one whole room with all of the covers of The Saturday Evening Post. If you are into Rockwell like we are, you have to pay a visit to stockbridge, MA.

Finally this past Sunday, the three of us went to Michael & Kate's birthday party. Charlotte had fun showing everybody her new tricks. Charlotte has figured out the scooting thing, so she can pretty much get into every place we allow her to get too. Oh...that reminds me, Charlotte paid a visit to the Doctors last week for her 9 month check-up. She is up to 16lbs, 3 Oz and now has 4 teeth. The Doc say she is doing great, right on schedule with her development, maybe even ahead of the game when it comes to sitting and pulling herself up.

Here are a few pics from the last month:

I'm swinging!!

Hallelujah

Well, The good guys won so I just have a few things to say:

ADIOS RIGHT WING WACKOS!! YOUR ARROGANCE WILL NOT BE MISSED!!!

Now it's time to repair the damage from 6 years of destruction. Time to bring the troops home. Time to give our rights back. Time to stop listening to our phone calls, watching sites we visit on the internet and cable. Time to stop preventing who we can and can not marry. Time to move to the center where 95 % of us are.

Time to stop pushing religious agendas and realize that separation from Church and State is a good thing...That there are other religions besides Christianity. Time to allow federally funded stem cell research so we can cure terrible diseases. Time to invest in alternative fuel...so our children don't have to deal with problems that scarce oil resources bring...If we don't need oil, we don't need the middle east. Time to deal with Iran and N. Korea...This can be done with diplomacy. Time to realize that gang wars are happening every day on our local streets and federally funding and resources is needed to combat it, including getting tough on crime. Time to balance the budget.

And finally, time to throw out the arrogance and mend relations with our former allies...They need to realize that we are not all like Dubya.

No I'm not celebrating...yet. But it looks like a lot of people saw the light today!!

Charlotte's First Try At Standing

Charlotte has been trying to pull herself up the last few weeks and yesterday it looked like she was going to try again so I grabbed the camera. Yes, we were able to catch Charlotte's first try at standing. This video camera has turned out to be a great investment.
